Here’s a little story about $ZEC Zcash launched back in October 2016 with a simple idea: give people the option to make transactions more private. It was built from Bitcoin’s codebase but added zero-knowledge proof technology, allowing transactions to be verified without revealing certain details. Behind the project was Electric Coin Company, founded by Zooko Wilcox-O’Hearn, with the technology coming from the earlier Zerocoin and Zerocash research. Almost 10 years later, ZEC is still one of the better-known privacy-focused Layer-1s in crypto. Interesting to see how a project that started in 2016 is still part of the conversation today.
