⚡️ That is the future Elon Musk has described for Starlink. He says customers could eventually have one account that works with a Starlink antenna at home and also provides a direct satellite connection to compatible phones.

But there is an important detail: this full service is not available everywhere today. SpaceX says new satellite technology and changes to future phones are needed to deliver much higher bandwidth directly from satellites.

The company says its next-generation Starlink Mobile satellites are being designed to support services such as video streaming and video calls.

Starlink's satellite-to-phone service is already operating in some markets, including the U.S. through T-Mobile and Japan through NTT Docomo, but today's service is more limited than the vision Musk describes.

The goal is simple: fewer dead zones and more places where your phone can stay connected.
