The Venezuelan Chamber of Electronic Commerce (Cavecom-e) revealed an impressive figure: in Venezuela, 8,500 mobile payment transactions are currently made per minute. The data, provided by its president Richard Ujueta, confirms that the country is moving steadily toward an increasingly digital economy, with the bolívar as the leading character in the formal sphere.
To put it into perspective, in 2025 there were 6,000 operations per minute; by June of this year they had already surpassed 7,000. The jump to 8,500 in August shows a curve of accelerated adoption that few markets in Latin America can match. Ujueta has no doubt describing it as “the highest financial transaction in the region and one of the highest in the world,” with 99% of transactions executed digitally and in bolívares.
