Early Life and Education🎀

Waqar-uz-Zaman was born on September 16, 1966 in Dhaka. His ancestral home is in Sherpur district. His father Asad-uz-Zaman was a district judge.👍

He completed his SSC and HSC from University Laboratory School and College, Dhaka. Later, he achieved remarkable success in military and academic higher education.

He received higher training from the Defense Services Command and Staff College (Mirpur) and the Joint Services Command and Staff College, United Kingdom. He also holds a Masters of Defense Studies (MDS) from the National University and a Masters in Defense Studies from King's College, University of London. ❤️

Military career👍

On December 20, 1985, he was commissioned into the East Bengal Regiment of the Bangladesh Army. He has served in various important positions in his long career.

Before becoming the Army Chief, he served as the Chief of General Staff (CGS) and the Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division.

For his contribution to the modernization and professional skills of the army, he received the 'Osamanya Seva Padak (OSP)' and the 'Sena Gaurab Padak (SGP)'. He has also served as the Commander of the National Victory Day Parade several times.

Family life❤️

He is married to Begum Sarahnaz Komalika. His wife is the daughter of former Army Chief, the late General Mustafizur Rahman. They have two daughters—Raisa Zaman and Shayra Ibnat Zaman. 🦋
