5% APR sounds great… until it becomes 15%.
That’s the problem with floating-rate DeFi.
Your borrowing rate can change with market conditions, liquidity and demand.
With a fixed-rate model, you know the cost upfront.
Here’s a simple example:
Floating rate
→ Start: 5% APR
→ Market gets crowded
→ Rate rises to 12%
→ Your borrowing cost changes
Fixed rate
→ Start: 8%
→ Lock the position
→ Maturity: 90 days
→ Rate stays 8%
Neither model is automatically “better”.
Floating rates can be cheaper when markets are calm.
Fixed rates become interesting when predictability matters more than chasing the lowest APR.
That’s the idea behind @TermMax.
Fixed rate.
Fixed maturity.
No guessing what your borrowing cost will be tomorrow.
Which would you choose: 5% floating or 8% fixed? 👇
