📊 The power system cannot keep up: 16.424 megawatts of demand
The president of Corpoelec, Juan Crisóstomo Fernández, confirmed what millions of Venezuelans already see every day: the state-owned company does not have the capacity to meet the national energy demand, which in the last week stood at 16.424 megawatts. Translated into real life, rationing continues in practically the entire country, with very different intensities depending on the region.
While in the Metropolitan Area of Caracas outages are not daily and do not last for hours, in the interior the story is different. Zulia is the most critical case: up to 99% of households report daily interruptions, and in Maracaibo there are power-cut blocks of 8 to 12 continuous hours. The Andes add voltage fluctuations on top of the prolonged blackouts, and in the plains, shutdowns average between four and six hours.

📊 A peak not seen since 2017
The acting president of Venezuela, Delcy Rodríguez, issued a public call for collaboration on energy savings after the National Center for Electric Power Dispatch reported demand exceeding 16,400 megawatts, a level the country had not seen since 2017. Unusually high temperatures, linked to the El Niño phenomenon, are pushing consumption upward almost daily and have already led to rationing that, in several regions of the country, lasts up to eight hours.
