Security researcher Taylor Hornby identified a critical forgery flaw in Zcash's Orchard pool on May 29, 2026, per The Block, which could have allowed minting of unlimited counterfeit ZEC. He reportedly found it using Anthropic's Opus 4.8 model and reported it to engineers at Zcash Open Development Lab. A fix was in place within days.
