Lean Ethereum is not a single upgrade, but a series of changes over 3–4 years. It is the third largest stage of Ethereum development after #TheMerge
➥ The process of validating blocks will move from fully reprocessing transactions to an iterative #STARK Recursive STARK technique, which will become an integrated part of the protocol.
➥ All cryptographic technologies will become quantum-computer resistant.
➥ New types of state will appear, enabling ERC-20 and NFT transaction fees—and most DeFi application fees—to be reduced by more than 10 times.
➥ RISC-V or leanISA the primary virtual machine will gradually replace #evm .
➥ Privacy will become a priority at the protocol level itself, rather than being limited to the application level.
➥ The consensus system will become simpler and faster, with a separation between data availability and finality, and block finality will be reduced to only one or two rounds.
➥ Over the next five years, Ethereum’s capacity will increase significantly by multiple times. The next major update, Glamsterdam (in the second half of 2026), will raise the gas limit from around 60 million currently to 200 million.
