This week, the market charged me a tuition fee in futures:
$PLUME : I entered at 0.01498 and got taken out at Stop Loss at 0.0125
$GRT : I entered at 0.0275 and got taken out at 0.0255
$YB : adjusted to 0.12 and got liquidated at 0.105
Were these mistakes? No. It was pure risk management.
The mistake isn't that the price goes against you; the market does what it wants. The real mistake is trading without protection, over-leveraging, and letting a bad streak wipe your account to $0.
I trade with strategy and with pennies because I'm a newbie, I'm learning, and I know exactly how much I'm willing to risk before opening a trade. Losing those pennies doesn't destroy my capital; it gives me the information and the cool head to calibrate my next entry.
In futures, it’s not the luckiest that wins, it’s the one who knows how to survive.
