Came across this on Cointelegraph / TokenPost: Kirill Eves, founder of payments company Unlimit, has committed about $45 million to Phase, a new blockchain—and its mainnet is now live.

The key details: Phase says it currently has no outside institutional investors. The $45 million will cover the first two years of development, with another two years of operating runway set aside. Phase Proxy also launched the same day: phone users share their network connections to help AI agents make web requests (data center IPs are often throttled or blocked). Users can run validators and earn PHASE without having to stake first. The network is EVM-compatible, and an AI compute service is also planned for November.

AI agents need internet access, but data center IPs keep getting blocked—routing traffic through spare phone bandwidth is a pretty bold idea, and it ties “proxy costs” to “node incentives.”

AI agents keep getting blocked online? Phase, which just launched its mainnet, is trying a different approach.

According to Cointelegraph, Unlimit founder Kirill Eves has pledged $45 million to support Phase. The project launched its mainnet on October 29 and introduced Phase Proxy, which routes AI agents’ requests through users’ mobile networks to get around the throttling and bans often imposed on data-center traffic.

Mobile users can install the app and join the network. They can earn $PHASE by validating blocks and sharing their connections. Mobile AI computing services and multi-model routing are also planned for November.

What to watch: AI agents are increasingly becoming economic actors that can work autonomously, but traditional infrastructure keeps getting in the way of their internet access. Phase is betting that its “idle mobile connections + computing power” approach can work. The mainnet has just launched, so don’t focus only on the funding figures—the key question is whether there will be real usage.
