SEC Commissioner Peirce to Depart October 2

Hester Peirce, often called “Crypto Mom” for her long-standing advocacy of clearer digital asset rules, will step down from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on October 2.

She submitted her formal resignation letter and will leave after nearly eight years at the agency, including time leading the Crypto Task Force. Her departure will temporarily reduce the Commission to two members.

Peirce is expected to join Regent University’s law school faculty later this year.
