On August 10, ICP surged from 2.17 to 2.34, up 8.1% intraday, with volume at the highest level since July. Caffeine AI turns user payments into ICP and then exchanges them into cycles—this does create real consumption. Mission 70 also tries to curb issuance by leaning on the staking and node-reward side.

The dispute is over scale. On-chain historical burn is about 2.85 million, while distributed-voting maturity has minted about 63.96 million, and node rewards add another 25.03 million. Now equating “potentially increased burn” directly with deflation is short by about an order of magnitude in evidence.

The most recent complete 1-hour candle closed at 2.374. RSI is around 74.5, and EMA7 is still above EMA25—trend strength is there, but the chasing-at-current-price odds aren’t great. My action is to set an alert for a complete 1-hour close above 2.40: only if it’s above that level and the volume is not lower than the average volume of the previous 20 candles should we consider following. A pullback to 2.34 is the observation zone; if it breaks below 2.30, then this round of judgment is invalid. If Caffeine usage and burn data don’t rise in sync, this remains a narrative rebound—not a supply turning point.
