Brent briefly closed above $116 — and that’s bad news for inflation expectations ahead of the Fed.

Facts: Brent closed at $116.72/barrel on Friday (Reuters, Oct 26), up nearly $3 in a day and +6% for the week, driven by Houthi attacks on Saudi facilities. On Monday morning, Brent eased to around $114.5–$115.2.

My take: Inflation risks are flaring up again right before the Fed’s decision on Oct 29 at 01:00 WIB. Expensive oil makes easing more difficult and weighs on risk assets — BTC is still around $80,160 today. Monday’s pullback suggests the market isn’t panicking yet, but supply risks haven’t gone away as long as the attacks continue.

What I’m watching: further attacks, US–Iran statements, and whether Brent climbs back above $116.72 before the Fed.
