At first glance, $ITLG and $ITL can look like two assets doing variations of the same job.
But the more interesting idea behind InterLink's dual-token architecture isn't simply having two tokens.
It's economic separation.
Many blockchain economies ask one asset to do almost everything: reward participation, govern the network, pay fees, provide liquidity, support payments, secure infrastructure and store value.
That creates a potential conflict.
An asset people are encouraged to hold for governance and long-term participation isn't necessarily optimized to circulate through an economy. And an asset designed to move through payments, settlement and liquidity may develop very different economic behavior.
InterLink attempts to separate these pressures across two interconnected tokens.
ITLG: Participation Is the Starting Point
$ITLG has a maximum supply of 100 billion and is centered around verified-human participation.
Human Nodes can earn ITLG through ecosystem participation, while the token connects users with governance, rewards and staking.
But reducing ITLG to a "governance token" would also be an oversimplification.
Its documented utility extends into the wider ITLX ecosystem, including access and other ecosystem functions.
So a better description is:
ITLG is the participation-centered side of the economy.

ITL: Where Economic Infrastructure Becomes More Important
$ITL has a fixed maximum supply of 10 billion.
Its economic center of gravity is different.
InterLink positions ITL around areas including payments, network fees, liquidity, reserves, validator collateral and institutional participation.
ITL therefore isn't simply "the payment token" either.
Its broader role is to help connect the network's internal economy with validators, applications, businesses and institutional participants.
A useful distinction is:
ITLG primarily coordinates participation around the Human Network.
ITL primarily coordinates economic activity and infrastructure around that network.
The word primarily matters.
The two tokens have overlapping utilities. This isn't a perfectly isolated two-economy system.
And that's actually where the design becomes more interesting.
The Bridge Between ITLG and ITL
The tokens are designed to interact.
One important connection is ITLG staking, through which eligible participants can receive ITL.
At a simplified level:
Verified Humans → Participation → $ITLG → Staking → $ITL → Economic Utility
That creates a potential economic loop.
Human participation creates ITLG distribution.
Committing ITLG connects that participation to ITL.
ITL can then serve economic functions across the wider network.
Meanwhile, institutional participants and ecosystem partners can create another source of ITL demand through infrastructure and Human Layer access.
Instead of two isolated tokens, the architecture is attempting to connect human participation with economic demand.
But Two Tokens Don't Automatically Fix Tokenomics
This is where the model needs to be judged more critically.
Separating economic roles can reduce certain incentive conflicts.
It does not automatically create sustainable demand.
Three questions matter.
1. Can ITLG develop demand beyond earning rewards?
Governance, ecosystem access and other utility need to matter enough that participants have reasons to hold or use ITLG beyond simply reaching the next reward.
2. Can ITL develop genuine external demand?
Payments, infrastructure, validator requirements, liquidity and institutional access matter only if those activities are actually used at scale.
Utility written into tokenomics is not the same thing as utility demanded by a market.
3. Can the bridge between the tokens remain economically balanced?
This may be the most important question.
If participation continuously creates economic claims on ITL while real ITL demand grows alongside them, the two sides can potentially reinforce each other.
If reward-driven supply grows substantially faster than actual economic usage, having two tokens doesn't eliminate the imbalance—it changes where the imbalance appears.
What Should We Actually Watch?
This makes InterLink's dual-token experiment more interesting than the simple question of whether ITLG or ITL is "more important."
They aren't supposed to compete for the same role.
The architecture is attempting something harder:
turning verified-human participation into an economic network while separating some of the incentives that normally compete inside a single-token system.
Whether that works won't ultimately be proven by token supply, staking ratios or architecture diagrams.
It will be proven by behavior.
Do people continue participating when rewards aren't the only attraction?
Do businesses and applications generate genuine transactional activity?
Do institutions actually require access to the Human Layer?
Does ITL utility grow as the Human Network grows?
And does ITLG retain meaningful utility of its own?
Those are the metrics that will tell us whether the separation is working.
The real question, then, isn't:
Why does InterLink have two tokens?
It's:
Can InterLink make human participation and economic demand grow together without allowing one side of the system to weaken the other?
That's the part of the $ITLG–$ITL economy worth watching.
