Citadel: Managing Identity Privacy on Dusk
I’ve been looking closely at Citadel on Dusk, and I think the identity side is more important than it first appears.
In regulated finance, users need to prove who they are, but that doesn’t mean they should expose all their personal information every time. Citadel takes a more selective approach. A user can prove that their identity or credentials meet certain requirements without sharing the full underlying data.
I see this as a practical balance between privacy and compliance. It’s similar to proving you are old enough to enter somewhere without showing every detail on your ID.
The interesting part is how this could work across different financial services. If the same trusted credentials can be recognized by multiple providers, users may not need to repeat the same identity process again and again.
Of course, there are still challenges. Trust in credential providers, service adoption, and real user participation will matter just as much as the technology itself.
For me, the bigger question is whether Citadel can make private identity verification simple enough for real financial users. What do you think will be the biggest adoption challenge?
