The complete triptych set by John Gerrard sold at Art Basel for $1.5 million.
Three series works by artist John Gerrard were sold in June and are now officially completed. The three works were sold for a total of $1.5 million at the Zero 10 unit at Art Basel. The deal was confirmed on July 6 by the writer and founder of 24 Hours Art, Roger Dickerman.
This triptych series includes three real-time simulated artworks. Digital art platform Fellowship first brought them together for exhibition. “Western Flag (Spindletop, Texas), 2017” depicts the smoke rising above the first major oil discovery in the United States in 1901. “Torch (Oceania), 2022” portrays the scene of natural gas burning as waters near Tonga warm up. “Standard, 2023” shows the sight of water vapor above Nevada’s Mojave Desert.
