I’ve recently been researching the Binance Lite Loan product: you can use BTC as collateral to borrow USDT—without selling your coins to obtain liquidity. Actually, that’s a signal.
When centralized platforms start making lending and borrowing easier and easier, the competitive pressure on on-chain DeFi inevitably increases. If you look back at ETH, it’s currently the underlying asset of DeFi. On the 1H chart, the MACD has just formed a bullish crossover, and the RSI is at 75—strong, though not yet on the brink of a breakdown. The price has been pushed from 1875 up to 1892, and the trading volume surged sharply on the most recent candlestick. This kind of pattern often suggests that funds are positioning themselves.
The question is: will Binance Lite Loan divert DeFi users? I actually think it could be complementary instead. On-chain lending is permissionless and self-custodied, while Binance focuses on compliance plus simplicity. The overlap between the two user groups isn’t that large.
The DeFi lending/borrowing track has been undervalued for a long time. But every time mainstream platforms copy the playbook and launch lending products, they also end up bringing a wave of attention to on-chain protocols. Now ETH’s technical picture is warming up—maybe this time isn’t a coincidence.
What do you think? Would you choose CeFi lending, or DeFi self-custody lending?
