Licensed VASPs must maintain reserves covering 100% of customer liabilities, hold the same assets on a 1:1 basis, and reconcile them daily. Independent audits must also examine hot, warm and cold wallets, third-party custody, asset segregation, and whether funds are being lent or reused.

The timing matters. Bitcoin is currently around $84K, after falling below $84K and triggering heavy long liquidations. Binance BTC open interest is around $8.1B, while funding has turned slightly negative, showing leverage is being flushed from the market.
