This morning I saw a regulatory update and watched it twice. While SEC Chair Atkins was in office, the SEC “unlocked” WisdomTree’s on-chain money market fund WTGXX: it allows the fund to trade intraday at a fixed $1 price, buy and sell with dealers at any time, and settle instantly using stablecoins such as USDC—everything can move 24/7 for seven days. In plain terms, a legitimate, licensed U.S. government money market fund has been brought on-chain with regulatory approval, and it can be used and transferred like a stablecoin.
Two years ago, everyone in the space was shouting “RWA” and trading the concept. Now the SEC itself has carved the path open with exemption orders under the Investment Company Act of 1940 framework. This feels completely different from the vibe two years ago.
I don’t expect this news to send the coin price soaring immediately.
$BTC is still sitting near 63000, and
$ETH is also soft around 1870. Traditional capital entering is a slow process, but the direction is clear: this round of regulation isn’t just about blocking—it’s also starting to lay the groundwork for compliant on-chain adoption. What is this—worth remembering.
