$LAB has collapsed from $16.84 to nearly $8, wiping out almost half its value within 24 hours.

But this wasn’t a normal correction. It was the second half of a massive liquidity trap.
A few days ago, LAB swept below $5.50 and then exploded more than 150% toward $18 as aggressive short liquidations fuelled the rally. Open interest and trading volume surged during that squeeze, creating an overcrowded and highly leveraged market.
Once LAB failed to break and hold above $17.90–$18.00, early buyers started taking profits. Then price lost $13.10, followed by the major $10.40 support, trapping late buyers and triggering cascading long liquidations.
The most important clue is open interest:
LAB’s OI fell from approximately $300M to $200M while price crashed.
That means this dump was driven heavily by positions being liquidated and closed, rather than simply millions of new shorts entering. More than $1.1 billion in daily futures volume accelerated the move.
There is currently no confirmed hack, delisting or single fundamental announcement explaining the entire collapse. The available evidence points mainly toward an overleveraged pump, resistance rejection, profit-taking and a brutal derivatives reset.
Now shorts are becoming dangerously overcrowded.
So yes, LAB remains structurally bearish—but shorting after a 50% crash could be exactly where the next squeeze begins.
