When I started trading, I thought that if I just read the most influential books on trading, I would become successful at trading. There is nothing further from the truth than this thought. Practice is what builds the character of a trader and no mentor can help you achieve the trading edge that you gain through practice. After all, what matters is the execution of a trading strategy and not so much the theory behind it.

I can’t emphasize enough that two traders might have completely different trading results by using the same trading strategy. Don’t get me wrong, a good trading strategy is essential, but at the end of the day, it is your own responsibility to follow the rules of that strategy and be disciplined enough to stick to it even when you are going through a losing streak. It is your responsibility to be most disciplined when your P/L needs you most. We as traders are not students of just a subject matter.

We are students of everyday problems. And problems may cut right across the borders of any subject matter or discipline.
