I have a fixed TP at 1.5:1 for every single trade as it's been proven over 3-4 years of live testing and journaling. This "Fixed" TP is defined from the SL of the trade. usually 20-45pips SL, TP is 95% of the time 1.5x the SL.
You should be journaling each trades maximum draw down in pips:
If its a losing trade and you are completely wrong just note a higher pip figure signifying that the trade was wrong in the first place. But if the trade went and hit your SL then done the move you were looking for note the maximum amount of DD before it corrected.
If its a winning trade its simply the highest amount of pips the trade has done in the direction while noting the pips it went into DD.
