Binance said Friday that recovery efforts were under way after hackers stole $6.3 billion from the cryptocurrency exchange. TRM Labs and other security firms attributed the theft to TraderTraitor, a hacking unit linked to North Korea. A Binance spokesperson said $3 billion in crypto assets had been frozen. However, TRM Labs policy head Ari Redbord said roughly $2.4 billion stolen in bitcoin and ether cannot be frozen. Binance pledged to use company funds to cover all losses, but the time needed to recover the stolen assets remains uncertain.
