Solana wants to make 6 seconds feel like an eternity. 👀 Solana’s Alpenglow upgrade goes live Wednesday, marking its biggest network overhaul since 2020. The goal? Cut transaction finality from roughly 6 seconds to just 150 milliseconds. Instead of recording every validator vote on-chain, Alpenglow moves voting off-chain and bundles votes into certificates, allowing transactions to reach finality in one or two rounds. Why does this matter? In fast-moving markets, even a few seconds can make a difference. Faster finality could improve trading infrastructure and make Solana more attractive for payments and applications that need near-instant settlement. There’s one detail traders should watch: reported transaction counts may fall after the upgrade because validator votes will no longer be counted as on-chain transactions. That doesn't necessarily mean network activity is declining. Of course, the 150ms target still needs to prove itself under real mainnet conditions, especially after testing included a failed migration and rollback. #Solana #Macro Insights# #Altcoin Season# $SOL #SOL
