Pirate Chain says a transaction-validation flaw allowed the unauthorized creation of approximately 39.8 million $ARRR , increasing the token supply by about 20%. The vulnerability was discovered on October 14 after the Ironwood upgrade. The newly created #tokens were transferred into the network’s shielded pool, limiting visibility into their subsequent movement.
The project initially announced a blockchain rollback but later said it could not unilaterally reverse a decentralized chain. Its network remains operational, while dPoW operators have temporarily paused notarizations. Exchanges and mining pools were asked to suspend activity voluntarily, and users were urged not to move funds.
#NonKYC restricted an account linked to suspicious deposits. The team says it has found no evidence that shielded #cryptography or notary keys were compromised. A recovery plan and technical post-mortem remain pending.
