Financial markets are currently leaning toward a dovish outlook for an October interest rate move following recent comments made at the IMF meetings in Thailand. While speaking at the event, Federal Reserve Chair Warsh clearly stated that the central bank is no longer providing forward guidance and that his policy is not to prejudge meetings.

Despite his efforts to remain neutral, investors have strongly adjusted their expectations based on his speech. The implied probability of a rate hike in October has now fallen to under 20%. Conversely, the market anticipates a nearly 90% likelihood of a 25 bps increase arriving in December. Looking further down the road, current market pricing reflects an expectation of 2.5 rate hikes by mid-2027.
