🇰🇷 13 Korean Securities Firms Join Forces to Build Tokenized Securities Infrastructure

South Korea's financial IT infrastructure provider Koscom is expanding its tokenized securities platform, KoSTO, with 13 securities firms now participating, including Hyundai Motor Securities, NH Investment & Securities and Kiwoom Securities.

The shared platform is designed to support blockchain-based securities issuance, account management and integration with traditional financial systems. Koscom has already completed issuance infrastructure development with LG CNS and testing with Korea Securities Depository, while also exploring stablecoin-based settlement and the tokenization of traditional assets such as bonds.

With South Korea's tokenized securities framework set to take effect in February 2027, KoSTO aims to reduce infrastructure costs and make it easier for financial institutions to enter the RWA market.

The bigger picture: Korea's RWA market is moving beyond individual tokenization projects toward shared institutional infrastructure — laying the groundwork for blockchain-based capital markets at scale.
