Bitcoin is showing surprising resilience after one of its toughest ETF weeks in months. BTC is holding above $84,000 even as U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded roughly $681 million in net outflows between October 5 and 9.

That creates a strange picture. Institutional funds are sending money out, yet Bitcoin is refusing to collapse. The market is basically saying, “ETF investors are leaving? Cool. I’ll hold the line.”

The weekly ETF number is significant. Bitcoin ETFs recorded their weakest week since late June, ending three consecutive weeks of net inflows. Ethereum ETFs had an even worse week, losing about $542 million, while the combined Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF withdrawals reached roughly $1.22 billion.

Yet BTC has not followed the ETF numbers lower in a straight line. Bitcoin recovered above $84,000 after briefly testing levels near $80,000 earlier in the week. That suggests other parts of the market are absorbing some of the selling pressure.

Ethereum is telling a different story. ETH traded around $2,500 on October 12 while its ETF outflow streak reached nine sessions. BlackRock's ETHA accounted for most of the recent withdrawals, showing that institutional demand for Ethereum has weakened sharply compared with the earlier part of the month.

The macro calendar is now becoming the next big test. U.S. September CPI is scheduled for October 14, followed by producer inflation data on October 15. A hotter inflation reading would put fresh attention on interest-rate expectations, while a softer reading would give risk assets a more comfortable backdrop.

Oil is adding another complication. Brent crude climbed above $106 per barrel as geopolitical tensions pushed energy prices higher. The stronger dollar is also keeping pressure on markets, creating a difficult environment for assets that depend heavily on liquidity and risk appetite.

And then there is the funniest part of this market. Everyone keeps calling October “Uptober,” but Bitcoin seems to have received the memo and replied, “I’ll get back to you.” Crypto ETFs are bleeding, oil is climbing and inflation data is waiting around the corner. Somehow BTC is still standing above $84K.

Pro Tip: The important story this week is the gap between ETF flows and Bitcoin's price. If BTC holds up while ETF outflows slow, the market could be showing stronger underlying demand than the headline numbers suggest. If both price and flows weaken together, the pressure would look more serious.

Bitcoin is entering the middle of October with a market full of contradictions. ETF investors are pulling billions from crypto products, Ethereum is struggling to attract institutional demand, oil is rising and CPI is approaching. Yet Bitcoin is still holding above $84,000.

For now, the bulls have one thing going for them: Bitcoin has taken several punches this month and is still refusing to leave the ring.

Market Narrative: BTC above $84K • $681M weekly Bitcoin ETF outflow • $1.22B combined BTC/ETH ETF outflow • ETH ETF streak reaches 9 sessions • CPI arrives October 14
