Veteran trader Peter Brandt warned that gold could fall toward $2,890 if prices break below the $4,100 to $4,200 support zone. Brandt stressed that the chart is not a price forecast and the decline is far from certain. Gold traded near $4,194 an ounce on October 10, about 22% below its January record near $5,405. Continued purchases by China's central bank could help support prices. The People's Bank of China has continued buying gold for 23 straight months.
