The quantum threat to Bitcoin is worth discussing, but I think the bigger question is how to prepare without creating new risks.
The fact that some BTC addresses have exposed public keys is a legitimate security consideration. However, that doesn’t mean current quantum computers can break Bitcoin’s cryptography today. The timeline remains uncertain, and the technology still faces major challenges.
What concerns me is the balance between waiting too long and rushing into migration. Moving coins to new addresses may reduce certain future risks, but careless transactions, lost keys, or poorly tested migration tools can create problems of their own.
For me, the priority should be gradual preparation: stronger wallet practices, continued post-quantum research, and a clear migration path before the threat becomes practical.
The goal isn’t to panic-move Bitcoin today, but to make sure the ecosystem is ready before it has to.
