Bitcoin is under renewed pressure as BTC moves toward the $80,000 area after a sharp market selloff. The latest decline comes as institutional ETF flows turn negative and higher oil prices and Treasury yields keep pressure on risk assets.

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded roughly $484.9 million in net outflows on October 7. That was the largest single-day withdrawal since June 25. BlackRock's IBIT led the exits with about $207.7 million, followed by Fidelity's FBTC at roughly $105.1 million.

The selling continued into October 8. Farside's latest data shows another $244.1 million in net Bitcoin ETF outflows, bringing two consecutive sessions of heavy withdrawals. IBIT, FBTC and ARKB all recorded additional outflows.

That shift is important because September delivered strong institutional demand. The latest withdrawals have erased much of the momentum built during the previous inflow streak, putting ETF flows back at the center of the Bitcoin narrative.

Ethereum is also facing pressure. Ether ETFs recorded $160.9 million in outflows on October 7, taking their five-session losses to more than $500 million. The weakness across both Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs suggests the latest selling is broader than a single asset.

Macro conditions are making the situation harder. Brent crude recently pushed above $100 per barrel, while the U.S. 30-year Treasury yield reached around 5.7%, its highest level since 2002. Higher energy prices are keeping inflation concerns alive, while elevated yields continue to pressure risk assets.

Bitcoin briefly traded near $81,500 on October 9 before recovering slightly. The market is now watching the $80,000 area closely as ETF withdrawals, oil prices and bond yields shape short-term sentiment.

Pro Tip: Watch the next ETF flow reports closely. If heavy withdrawals continue, institutional demand is weakening in the short term. If flows stabilize, the market could start looking beyond the current macro pressure.

Bitcoin's October story has changed quickly. Strong institutional demand at the start of the month has given way to heavy ETF withdrawals, while higher oil prices and Treasury yields are keeping risk appetite under pressure. The $80K area is now one of the most important levels in the current market narrative.

Market Narrative: BTC near $82K • $484.9M Bitcoin ETF outflow • $244.1M additional outflow • ETH ETF withdrawals exceed $500M • Oil above $100
