BlockBeats news, September 28 — Samsung Electronics is accelerating the construction of the first mass production line (Ph1) at its Pyeongtaek P5 campus. It is reported that Samsung is in discussions with major equipment suppliers to move up the equipment move-in timeline for Ph1 from the originally scheduled third quarter of next year to the second quarter. With demand for high-end DRAM and NAND in the AI sector growing rapidly, Samsung aims to accelerate its capacity deployment.P5 is Samsung Electronics' next-generation semiconductor production base, planned to begin production in 2028. In the third quarter of this year, Samsung already commenced cleanroom construction for Ph1. Cleanrooms are primarily used to control microscopic contaminants as well as environmental conditions such as temperature and humidity inside wafer fabs. Samsung had previously planned to complete P5 Ph1 cleanroom construction by early next year, but has moved the schedule forward by approximately 6 months, meaning equipment introduction was originally expected to take place in the third quarter of next year.However, Samsung's equipment investment pace at P5 has recently accelerated further. An industry insider stated that Samsung has communicated plans to relevant parties to move up the Ph1 equipment move-in timeline from the originally scheduled July to August of next year to May to June of next year. Due to the earlier cleanroom construction, the project schedule had already been adjusted once, and the overall investment pace is now accelerating further.
