three clicks into a dusk bridge tx and i already had to stop and think.

not because anything broke. because the form asked me something no other bridge ever has — which version of my own token do i actually want. moonlight, transparent, account-based, feels like a normal balance. or phoenix, shielded, note-based, feels closer to holding cash than a ledger entry.

i wasn't ready for that. i've bridged a dozen chains. lock, mint, done, never think about it again. dusk breaks that habit on purpose. native L1 is fully live, over 210M $DUSK already staked and securing it. duskevm, the evm side you'd actually use with familiar tooling, is still testnet. so the "easy" evm path and the "different asset entirely" native path aren't even running on the same maturity clock yet.

nobody flags this mid-flow. you just pick, confirm, and move on — and the choice quietly decides what you can do afterward. staking eligibility. how private the balance actually is. whether the next contract you touch even reads your tokens the way you expect.

seamless, sure. the transaction goes through fine. legible is a separate question. i'd guess most people bridge once, get their funds, and never circle back to figure out which side of the ledger they landed on
