I still think people look at the APY first when judging a DeFi vault, while the more important story is often what happens behind that number.

What caught my attention with @TermMax is the Vault + Curator setup. The curator isn’t just chasing the highest yield—they have to think about which fixed-rate markets to use, how orders and pricing are configured, and how different maturities fit together. On top of that, things like vault limits, market whitelists, timelocks and Guardian oversight put boundaries around those decisions.

That creates a trade-off I find pretty interesting. A higher APY can look great on the screen, but if the allocation doesn’t handle liquidity or maturity risk well, that number alone doesn’t tell you much.

So I’ve started looking at it differently: where is the yield actually coming from, and what risks are being taken to generate it?

The real test, in my view, comes when volatility picks up and users want liquidity at the same time. Will TermMax’s curated approach hold up when market conditions get difficult?
