Perhaps the most evolving area of fabric protocol today is sustainability. The linear model of "make, use, dispose" is being replaced by circular economy protocols.
Recyclability Sorting: New protocols are being developed to easily identify fiber blends. A 100% cotton shirt is easy to recycle; a poly-cotton blend requires complex separation protocols. Clear labeling is now part of the material's identity.
Biodegradability Standards: For compostable textiles, strict protocols define the conditions (temperature, humidity, time) under which the fabric must break down without leaving microplastics behind.
Water Usage: Manufacturing protocols increasingly mandate closed-loop water systems where dye water is filtered and reused rather than discharged into local waterways.$ROBO #robo @Fabric Foundation
