The government of El Salvador has announced a visa program that offers foreigners a passport and residence permit if they invest $ 1 million in Bitcoin or connect to the small Central American country.
According to the government's web page, the ”freedom visa“ program is for high-net-worth individuals or investors who want to be part of a ”commitment to building the country of the future."
Salvadoran president Nayib Bukele also posted the announcement on Twitter on Thursday under the name X-formerly. The program is run in partnership with Tether, the company behind the stablecoin usdt.
