USD.AI is a permissionless lending protocol built to finance the AI infrastructure industry. The protocol employs a two-token model: $USDai (a non-yield bearing stablecoin overcollateralized by PayPal’s $PYUSD) and $sUSDai (a yield-bearing token targeting strong yields, funded by GPU-backed loans and T-Bill yields on undeployed capital). $CHIP is the governance token of the USD.AI ecosystem, giving holders the ability to vote on protocol parameters, interest rate models, accepted collateral types, and USD.AI Improvement Proposals (UIPs)
The USD.AI protocol consists of the following two tokens working in conjunction:
$USDai Stablecoin: A non-yield bearing ERC-20 stablecoin overcollateralized by PayPal’s $PYUSD, providing a stable unit of account for GPU-backed lending.
$sUSDai Vault Token: An ERC-4626 (ERC-7540 redeem) yield-bearing vault token that earns yield from GPU loans and PYUSD emissions on undeployed capital, targeting 10-15% APR. Unlike $USDai, $sUSDai is free-floating and represents shares in an assortment of targeted lending positions;
CHIP is the governance token for the protocol
$CHIP is USD.AI’s native governance token and is used in the following functions:
Governance: $CHIP holders vote on protocol-wide parameters including interest rate models, accepted collateral types, vault curator approvals, and protocol fee switches. They can also propose general protocol upgrades.
Insurance Staking: $CHIP holders can stake tokens in the insurance module to protect against protocol bad debt and earn fees from protocol operations, similar to Aave’s Safety Module but backed by GPU inventory.

What is USD.AI / $CHIP?
Project overview:
USD.AI is a permissionless lending protocol built to finance the AI infrastructure industry. The protocol employs a two-token model: $USDai (a non-yield bearing stablecoin overcollateralized by PayPal’s $PYUSD) and $sUSDai (a yield-bearing token targeting strong yields, funded by GPU-backed loans and T-Bill yields on undeployed capital). $CHIP is the governance token of the USD.AI ecosystem, giving holders the ability to vote on protocol parameters, interest rate models, accepted collateral types, and USD.AI Improvement Proposals (UIPs).
Project mission:
USD.AI’s mission is to become the interest rate of artificial intelligence by providing permissionless, legally enforceable financing infrastructure for the GPU economy. The protocol aims to bridge traditional finance and DeFi, enabling AI infrastructure operators to access on-chain capital while offering DeFi users exposure to real-world AI lending yields. USD.AI seeks to establish a new financial primitive that scales alongside the explosive growth of the AI infrastructure market, projected to exceed $500B by 2028.
Project value proposition
USD.AI is the first protocol to combine legally enforceable GPU tokenization with DeFi efficiency at scale,
Project Key Highlights:
Live Protocol with Proven Traction: $247M in TVL, >$100M in deployed loans, and 70,000 depositors and 70 borrowers in the pipeline, demonstrating real product-market fit and a $1.6B loan pipeline as of early 2026.
Multi-Chain Deployment: Deployed on Ethereum (primary), Arbitrum, Base, and Plasma, with LayerZero enabling seamless cross-chain token bridging for maximum accessibility.
$CHIP Governance Token: ERC-20 governance token with 10B fixed supply enabling holders to vote on interest rate models, collateral types, curator approvals, and protocol parameters; future uses include insurance staking and liquidity mining rewards.
Existing Products:
USD.AI Protocol (Live): Permissionless GPU-backed lending protocol with $247M TVL, 70,000 depositors, and 70 active borrowers in pipeline.
