HiLo Morning Brief · Oct 30 — Binance Faces a $5.5B Security Incident as BTC Breaks Below 80K (1/2)
Good morning!
A major security incident involving Binance emerged overnight. Based on on-chain fund tracking and media estimates, roughly $5.5 billion moved out of wallets identified as linked to Binance. Binance said it was investigating a potential security issue and that user assets were safe. At the time of media reports, Binance had reported approximately $2.54 billion in verified frozen funds. The roughly $5.5 billion figure represents estimated outflows, not a confirmed final loss, and the frozen amount may change as the investigation progresses. Some deposit and withdrawal services were suspended following the incident. With two major centralized trading platforms facing security incidents in less than 40 days, exchange security and custody risks deserve renewed attention.
The news triggered a sharp overnight sell-off. BTC broke below the 81K range, where it had been consolidating, and fell to around 77K. ETH dropped below 2,300 and briefly approached 2,200.
Technically, BTC has broken down in the short term and remains at risk of further downside. Price is now near support around 76K, but the decline has been rapid and there is no clear stabilization signal yet. The next support area to watch is near the previous low around 75K. For now, watch how price behaves at support and wait for signs of stabilization.
From a wave perspective, the move can provisionally be viewed as an ABC correction. The market remains in a downward phase, and we will watch for signs that this phase is complete.
HiLo Morning Brief · Oct 30 — Gold and Silver Weaken, QQQ Slips Below Its Range (2/2)
In commodities, XAU continues to trade weakly. A low signal appeared this week, but there is still no clear rebound, and the base-building process may take more time. XAG has weakened and made a new low for the year. Whether gold will also test lower support remains to be seen.
In U.S. equities, QQQ failed to reclaim 730 this week and continued lower, returning to around 700. It appears to be breaking below its previous trading range. The stronger support area near 660 is worth watching, and near-term downside risk remains elevated.
Recent third-quarter results and guidance from technology companies have added to market volatility. Alphabet fell about 12.6% on Thursday, while Intel’s shares dropped further in after-hours trading following its outlook. Technology stocks may continue to weigh on the indexes.
HiLo Morning Brief · Oct 29 — BTC and ETH Rebounds Lose Steam as 80K Support Faces Another Test (1/2)
Good morning!
In crypto, the market briefly turned higher yesterday. BTC reached around 82,000, while ETH approached 2,400, but both pulled back again this morning. Price action remains relatively weak, and the rebound lacks momentum. Our concerns about this week’s outlook therefore remain: the 80,000 level and previous lows may be tested again, and the market still needs to establish stronger support.
In the near term, watch resistance around 82,000 for BTC, with support near 79,000 and 76,000.
HiLo Morning Brief · Oct 29 — QQQ Meets Resistance, Gold and Oil Await Confirmation (2/2)
First, U.S. equities. QQQ moved up toward 730 yesterday before reversing lower, confirming our earlier view that last week’s rebound high remains a significant resistance area. If QQQ cannot reclaim 730 in the near term, the rebound from the previous low may have run its course. Watch how much further the market adjusts over the final two sessions of this week.
The storage sector has gained considerably this week. SK hynix is up about 25% from its low, recovering more than half of its previous decline and showing notable strength. Its recently reported results have also been impressive. In the short term, however, the rebound is meeting resistance and may need to pull back and consolidate.
Our view on XAU gold and CL crude oil remains unchanged from yesterday. Both have produced major-timeframe high or low signals and are now near important resistance or support zones, but neither has confirmed a turning point. Gold’s current correction has not yet made a new low, so the bottoming structure remains incomplete. A base similar to the July–August pattern, with a second low below 4,000, would make the structure more convincing.
HiLo Morning Brief · Oct 28 — Gold and Crude Oil Signals Diverge (1/2)
Good morning!
Two major, opposing signals have emerged in commodities this week. XAU gold tested near 3,980 but failed to extend its decline, then stabilized and rebounded toward 4,000. Low signals have now appeared on both the 12-hour and daily timeframes. This is the first major-timeframe low signal at support since gold began its roughly two-month pullback from around 4,700.
The previous comparable low came in July, which also marked a swing low this year. If gold consolidates here and gradually turns higher, its price action could potentially echo the August rally. The daily chart is still repairing, however: price may be near a turning point, but a trend reversal is not yet confirmed. The first resistance to watch is around 4,150.
CL crude oil, meanwhile, has produced a daily high signal, standing in clear contrast to gold’s low signal: one is near the highs, while the other has formed a low at support. This is a notable shift in commodities this week. Whether it signals a broader change in market conditions remains to be seen.
HiLo Morning Brief · Oct 28 — BTC and ETH Stabilize, QQQ Extends Rebound (2/2)
Back in crypto, BTC and ETH stabilized and rebounded yesterday. After consolidating near 2,300, ETH has successively produced low signals on the 2-hour, 4-hour, and 12-hour timeframes. The rebound remains modest, but price action is beginning to turn higher and warrants continued attention.
BTC has yet to produce a major-timeframe low, though 1-hour and 2-hour low signals appeared in recent days. Support near 80,000 has also been tested several times. The first near-term level to watch overhead is around 81,500. If the trend-quantification signal can reclaim that level, a bullish view may be considered again.
In U.S. equities, QQQ continued to rebound. Since a 4-hour and 12-hour low confluence formed this week, it has gained about 3% and is continuing to push toward 731. The rebound has also supported short-term recoveries in stocks such as TSLA and GOOGL.
HiLo Morning Brief · Oct 27 — BTC Remains Weak and Range-Bound (1/2)
In crypto, BTC remains range-bound near 80,000, with neither a clear breakdown nor a strong rebound. The market appears to be waiting for direction. If weak consolidation continues at these levels, caution remains warranted.
Our view is unchanged from yesterday: wait for the market to develop, then look for confirmation of direction.
HiLo Morning Brief · Oct 27 — U.S. Stocks & Commodities: Crude Oil's Daily High Signal Builds (2/2)
U.S. equities rebounded in a choppy session last night. QQQ has shown 4-hour low signals near 700 over the past two days. The rebound has been modest, but it has helped lift the storage sector, which had been under sustained pressure. SK hynix is currently leading the gains.
The rebound target for QQQ this week remains near 730. It failed to reclaim that level last week, so whether it can move back above it is worth watching. Overall, the U.S. equity market continues to show resilience.
In commodities, XAU has temporarily found support near 4,000, but there has been no meaningful rebound yet. We are watching whether it makes a fresh recent low and how support near 3,940 holds. Price may continue to fluctuate around this area in the near term.
For CL crude oil, another down close today could form a daily high. The green “high forming” signal on the chart has begun to flash, suggesting a higher probability of a high forming. Final confirmation will depend on the daily close.
Gold and Crypto Under Pressure as U.S. Equities Face Further Tests | Paolo Quant Weekly Report #419
Crypto Market The main theme last week was pressure across risk assets, with key support levels being tested repeatedly. U.S. equities sold off sharply, crypto moved lower again after its rebound ran into resistance, and gold continued to weaken. Crude oil remained on an upward path and traded more independently. BTC and ETH stabilized near support over the weekend, suggesting near-term buying interest, but this week’s key levels still need to confirm whether the bounce can develop into a broader recovery. BTC briefly broke above descending resistance and rebounded to around 84.8K, but the move failed to hold and price retreated toward 80K. The market tested the 80K area several times over the weekend. After a brief break below it, selling did not immediately extend, suggesting that some demand remains. ETH was relatively weaker, reaching a weekend low near 2,290 and repeatedly testing the 2,300–2,350 area. Last week’s focus was whether support would hold and a rebound could be confirmed. Support has held for now, but that alone does not establish that the correction is over. For BTC this week, first watch whether 80K can hold, then whether price can reclaim 81K before testing resistance around 83K–84.5K. A sustained move above that resistance, accompanied by broader participation from major coins, would provide better conditions for a larger rebound. If 80K gives way, the next support area to watch is 75.5K–77K. The increase in short-term low signals is worth monitoring, but it still needs confirmation from price structure. For ETH, the key near-term zone remains 2,300–2,350. If it holds and ETH reclaims descending resistance, watch whether the rebound can approach 2,500. A decisive break below support would put the daily uptrend under greater pressure and could lead to a deeper retest. ETH has recently underperformed BTC, so confirmation also requires ETH to participate rather than relying on a BTC-only recovery as evidence that the entire market has strengthened. Market breadth remains mixed. ZEC, NEAR, and FIL showed notable strength during localized rebounds, but market-wide follow-through and sector rotation were inconsistent. Low signals have become more frequent, and short-term signs of recovery have appeared. If BTC and ETH hold support and strength spreads to more assets, risk appetite may improve. If gains remain concentrated in a handful of names while other major coins lag, the move is better treated as a localized recovery. TradFi and Commodities In U.S. equities, the QQQ rebound last week failed to reclaim the 730 area, and price then retreated toward 700. The 700 area is an important support level to watch this week, particularly for stabilization on the 4H chart. A decisive break below it would increase the risk of a prolonged correction. Technology, semiconductor, and memory stocks had already seen sizable declines, with some showing oversold conditions, but any rebound still needs confirmation. U.S. equity volatility may also affect crypto sentiment, so watch whether the two markets become more closely correlated. In commodities, CL continued higher, reaching around 105 over the weekend and setting a new closing high, while a daily Top alert appeared. The broader trend remains strong, but price is elevated in the short term. Watch whether a daily top forms and whether support holds during any pullback. XAU weakened again after a soft rebound and moved toward 4,000. The previous low near 3,940 is the key support area this week; a break would raise the risk of a new low. Weekly Outlook Overall, buying interest and short-term stabilization have appeared near key support, but a trend reversal is not yet confirmed. This week, watch whether BTC can hold 80K and reclaim 83K–84.5K, whether ETH can defend 2,300–2,350 and break above descending resistance, and whether the QQQ can stabilize above 700. If these support levels fail, the current rebound view should be downgraded. Until clearer confirmation appears, risk control and patience remain the priority. #PaoloQuantWeekly $BTC $ETH #Bitcoin #Ethereum #Crypto #Gold
HiLo Morning Brief · Oct 26 — BTC & ETH Test Support (1/2)
Oil Pushes Toward 105 as BTC and Gold Test Support
Markets continued lower after Friday. On Saturday night, both BTC and ETH set new lows for this correction, reaching around 79.2K and 2,290, respectively, before stabilizing and rebounding. BTC is now hovering near 80K, while ETH is trading around 2,300.
The support around 80K for BTC remains notable. After briefly breaking below it on Saturday, price did not extend lower and instead moved sideways, suggesting there is meaningful buying interest in this area. The near-term focus is whether this zone can support a rebound and how long it can hold. If BTC can reclaim 81K, watch for a potential 4H rebound to develop.
If the short-term 1H low gives way, the next support area to watch is around 75.5K–77K.
ETH remains relatively weaker and has generally led BTC on the way down recently. Continue to watch support near 2,300. A further breakdown could damage the daily uptrend structure, and a retest of the 2,000 area cannot be ruled out.
HiLo Morning Brief · Oct 26 — Oil, Gold & QQQ (2/2)
In commodities, we noted last week that CL could continue toward 100 to complete a five-wave advance. Over the weekend, CL reached around 105 and set a new closing high. On the daily chart, the move can currently be viewed as a five-wave advance, while a daily Top alert has also appeared. This week, watch for a daily top to form; until confirmed, price action still needs to be monitored.
XAU has moved toward 4,000 this week. The key level to watch is whether the previous low near 3,940 will be broken. Support below remains notable, and buying interest may emerge as price approaches that area, though any stabilization still needs confirmation from subsequent price action.
For QQQ, continue to watch support near 700. As noted last week, this is an important level to monitor this week. A decisive break below it could lead to a more prolonged correction in U.S. equities.
HiLo Morning Brief · Oct 23 — U.S. Equities Weaken as BTC Reverses and Retests 80K (1/2)
Good morning!
U.S. equities fell sharply overnight. As we have noted several times this week, after QQQ broke below its rising trendline, the rebound failed to reclaim 730. Technically, this looks more like a retest after the breakdown; the failed recovery also leaves room for further weakness. QQQ is now back near 700, the low of last month's consolidation range. Watch for support on the 4H timeframe. If U.S. equities remain weak on Friday, the market may have more room to correct next week.
Turning to crypto, BTC briefly tested the area near 84.8K yesterday before reversing sharply, giving back most of this week's gains. It is now back near 81K, and the 80K support area may be tested again in the near term. The market's upside momentum remains weak, participation has been limited, and no coin is showing a particularly strong independent trend. Price action remains broadly range-bound. If BTC stays under pressure as U.S. equities weaken, the two markets could move more closely in tandem; keep an eye on their correlation.
In the near term, watch support around 81K–80K for BTC, with resistance near 82.5K.
HiLo Morning Brief · Oct 23 — Commodities: XAU Breaks Its Range (2/2)
In commodities, XAU has continued to show a weak rebound, failed to break out of its short-term consolidation range, and repeatedly tested lower. It broke below the range again yesterday and is now moving toward 4,000. On the daily chart, the consolidation area above 4,100 that held over the past two weeks has been broken. The prior lows around 3,950–4,000 are the next support area to watch and may be tested further next week. Observe how price reacts there; if support fails, XAU could make a new low for the year, so risk remains elevated.
HiLo Morning Brief · Oct 22 — Breakout Retest: BTC Support Near 83K in Focus (1/2)
Good morning!
Yesterday, we noted that BTC and ETH had both broken above their descending resistance lines, creating room for a short-term rebound. The market moved higher overnight, with BTC briefly reaching around 84.8K in one of its more notable rallies this week. ETH followed. Although the broader market did not rally sharply, several major coins began to turn higher, and the market has generally been rebounding in a choppy fashion this week.
ZEC has rebounded sharply over the past two days, rising more than 25% from a low near 1,060 and leading the market for now. SOL and BNB have also posted short-term gains. For the time being, however, it is more prudent to treat this as a rebound; its durability will depend on whether other major coins continue to follow.
On BTC’s 4H chart, price has moved above the rebound highs from the previous two weeks but has not yet made a new swing high. For now, the move is still best viewed as a rebound. Price has started to pull back again, so follow-through remains unconfirmed. Watch whether support near 83K holds.
ETH is showing a similar pattern. After breaking above descending resistance, it is now retesting. Watch whether the area around 2,440 holds. If price holds there and stabilizes, another rebound leg remains possible.
HiLo Morning Brief · Oct 22 — Commodities & U.S. Equities (2/2)
XAU has remained weak in a low-level range this week and has yet to establish a clear direction. It may continue lower in search of support. CL remains in a high-level consolidation; watch whether it tests the previous high near 102.
In U.S. equities, QQQ and SPY have pulled back in a choppy move. The signal board you provided shows a 2H High resonance for QQQ and a 1H High resonance for TSLA, along with 1H high signals in several technology and storage names. These signals may create near-term resistance for the rebound. If QQQ fails to reclaim 730 this week, a further correction after consolidation remains possible.
The key near-term levels are whether BTC can hold 83K, ETH can hold 2,440, and QQQ can reclaim 730. Until key support and resistance levels are confirmed, focus on whether the rebound can continue and how risk conditions evolve.
