Contrary to popular belief, this is not a social media based memecoin, or a coin issued by Reddit themselves. This is a tokenized form of the Reddit company stock (NYSE: RDDT) which is supposed to mimic its' price on a 1:1 ratio.
2️⃣ The Liquidity is a Ghost Town 👻
As you can see in the chart, while the token has a healthy listing on Binance at around $160, the amount of daily liquidity is very low. Overall, the market seems to have low expectations for this project, as selling a significant short position at once would result in a significant drop in price.
3️⃣ Counterparty Risks
Because this is a leveraged product, there are risks of the issuing company or a brokerage platform being subjected to regulatory or financial risks, resulting in the token's value plummeting. Even if the Reddit social media platform performs well, its' affiliated token could still be at risk.
💡 The Verdict:
The majority of veteran traders would stay away from this product. If you want to invest in the Reddit company, it is better to buy the stocks on a traditional brokerage account.
