I spent a lot of time digging into blockchain privacy because I wanted to understand what actually makes privacy useful in the real world. I had plenty of questions, especially around security, transparency, and whether privacy can really work alongside regulation. That research eventually led me to #dusk.
What caught my attention about $DUSK is that it is not simply about hiding transactions. The bigger idea is making privacy work with regulated onchain finance. The combination of Piecrust VM, ZK SNARKs, and selective auditing is interesting because it could allow users to prove certain requirements without exposing every sensitive financial detail.

Spent more time on Dusk’s own documentation today, and I think I found the more interesting RWA story hiding underneath the headline.

The Aug. 15 SME tokenization piece is unusually explicit about what tokenization doesn’t replace.

The notary stays.
The regulated venue stays.
The accountable operator stays.
Price discovery stays.

That matters.

Because Dusk can have the impressive technical numbers — 210M+ $DUSK staked, ~10s deterministic finality, €200M+ in confirmed NPEX issuance — while the actual legal ownership workflow still runs through established Dutch infrastructure.

So maybe the story isn’t:

“Blockchain removes the middlemen.”

Maybe it’s:

“Blockchain gives the middlemen a better settlement and recordkeeping layer.”

And honestly, that could be a much more realistic institutional use case.

If NPEX remains the regulated venue and the notary remains responsible for the legal transfer, Dusk’s value proposition becomes less about replacing the existing system and more about making the system underneath it faster, more synchronized, and easier to reconcile.

That changes the question I’m asking about Dusk.

Not “Can tokenization eliminate intermediaries?”

But:

Who captures the efficiency dividend when intermediaries no longer have to reconcile as much?

The issuer?

The venue?

The legal operators?

Or eventually the investors?

The real cost of public ledgers isn’t the gas. It’s that every position and counterparty stays visible forever.

Most institutions still treat that as a hard no. They want final settlement and rules that run themselves, but they won’t put order flow or ownership details where anyone can sit and watch. Chains usually force the trade-off: fully open and usable, or private and stuck in a corner.

Dusk takes a different route. It’s an L1 built for regulated financial work, with confidential smart contracts and the XSC standard so tokenised securities can move while only showing what actually needs to be shown.

If that holds, the shift is quiet but real. Issuers stop leaking strategy every time they run a transfer or corporate action.
