Non-profit organization responsible for overseeing the development of the Solana ecosystem, Solana Foundation announced a request for proposals aimed at fostering the creation of open-source data tools for Solana. As part of this initiative, up to $275,000 in funding is available for the Solana Historical State Verification Tool request for proposal (RFP).
The organization proposes to develop a general replay tool to verify any state transition since the launch of the Solana Mainnet, thereby ensuring data integrity across diverse archival sources. The proposed solution includes a standalone CLI tool for block and epoch verification, a mapping system for correlating blocks and epochs to SVM versions and feature sets, support for multiple data archive formats, transaction replay utilizing the appropriate historical code and features, and parallel bank hash verification to enhance efficiency.
As part of the Solana Historical State Verification Tool RFP, the deliverables include mapping from block and epoch to SVM and feature sets, an open-source CLI tool licensed under Apache, and user-friendly documentation aimed at a non-technical audience. Additionally, comprehensive unit and integration testing will be conducted, along with a commitment to manage the tool and dataset for a duration of two years.
The Historical State Verification Tool RFP seeks to enhance data verification capabilities on the Solana blockchain, ensuring long-term data integrity and reliability. The submission period for proposals is open until November 15th, with a development deadline set for August 31st, 2025.
