Blockchain intelligence giants TRM Labs & Chainalysis have officially attributed the historical $6.3 Billion Binance exploit to North Korea’s state-sponsored Lazarus cyber-threat campaign, 'TraderTraitor.'
Key verified highlights from the ongoing live on-chain investigation:
⛓️ How It Happened:
Attackers exploited EIP-7702 delegation on Ethereum to turn a Binance hot wallet into a controlled sweeper, executing unauthorized automated transfers across ten blockchains.
No private key leak found. Instead, the breach is isolated to a compromised DevOps engineer's endpoint and associated signing workflows.
❄️ The Multi-Billion Containment:
Blockchain partners, including Tether, Circle, and Ripple, worked rapidly to freeze over $2.67 Billion to $3 Billion in affected on-chain stablecoins.
To front-run the freezes, the attacker raced to swap funds into decentralized ETH and BTC pools, now holding upwards of $2.4 Billion.
