#dusk $DUSK
What if institutions don’t actually need private blockchains — they need public blockchains that know what not to reveal?

That distinction matters more than it first appears.

Financial institutions need shared settlement, auditability, and interoperability. But they cannot realistically expose every trade, portfolio position, client relationship, or business strategy on a completely transparent ledger.

This is where I find Dusk interesting.

Instead of treating privacy as an isolated layer added on top, Dusk is building confidentiality into a public Layer-1 through confidential smart contracts and its XSC standard. The idea is not to hide everything. It is to control which information remains private while still allowing the network to verify the outcome.

Think about a tokenized bond. A bank may need the market to verify that ownership changed and settlement happened, while having no reason to reveal the exact commercial terms or the institution’s entire trading history.

That is a much more practical model of blockchain adoption.

Private chains solve confidentiality by sacrificing some openness. Fully transparent chains solve verifiability but can expose too much.

The interesting future may sit between those extremes: public infrastructure with selective confidentiality.

So the real question is: will institutions choose isolated private networks, or will confidential public blockchains eventually become the better settlement layer?
