Someone asked me what i thought about Grok A.I.
Here is what i found out from an article on msn. 
The made-up word "grok" has a long history in science fiction, but its origins can be traced back to an even earlier invented word - "griggo."
In the 1949 short story "Venus and the Seven Sexes" by William Tenn, the author coined the term "griggo" as a Venusian basic sense describing intuitive understanding. Tenn used "griggo" as both a noun and a verb in phrases like "I griggoed his impatience."
Over a decade later, acclaimed sci-fi author Robert Heinlein published his 1961 novel Stranger in a Strange Land, which introduced the word "grok" with a similar meaning of deep, empathetic comprehension.
Heinlein's "grok" became hugely influential in 1960s counter-culture and lexicon. When asked if he was inspired by Tenn's prior "griggo," Heinlein admitted "It's possible, very possible."
So while Heinlein's "grok" popularized the concept of invented words for perception, the original pioneering of such exotic terminology can be credited to Tenn's earlier "griggo." The two words likely cross-pollinated each other's ideas and usage in the sci-fi genre.
This interplay between the two authors shows how science fiction writers can iteratively build on linguistic creativity. Tenn provided early inspiration, but Heinlein brought it fully into the mainstream. The lineage of "griggo" to "grok" exemplifies the collective invention within imaginative literature.
