MetaMask suspends its Ethereum staking services following a security incident
#MetaMask Staking has taken precautionary steps to protect customer assets tied to its #Ethereum validators, including initiating exits from validators operated through #Lido . The move may result in lost staking rewards and downtime penalties as the validators are deactivated to mitigate potential slashing risks. The affected validators have begun the exit process and are expected to complete withdrawals by October 7, 2026, although full withdrawals have not yet been finalized.

A prominent global cryptocurrency financial services company and digital asset platform, #Blockchaincom , plans to go public this year, seeking to raise around $500M through an IPO at a targeted valuation of $4B to $6B. The company filed confidentially with the SEC in May and could raise less than $500M to complete the listing. The planned IPO comes as the crypto market recovers, with Bitcoin up more than 30% since mid-August, though recent crypto IPOs have seen significant declines. Broader blockchain adoption could also influence the offering’s performance.
THORChain declines to block assets linked to Bitget hackers
Hackers stole $387.5M from crypto exchange #Bitget on September 24, with some of the funds now being converted into #Bitcoin via #THORChain , which has declined to block the transactions. THORChain allows users to swap assets across blockchains without identity checks. Once the stolen funds are converted into Bitcoin, they cannot be frozen by a centralized entity.
THORChain defended its permissionless model, saying it is open to anyone, like Bitcoin, #Ethereum , and #BNBChain . It argued that this raises broader questions about whether base-layer blockchains should be responsible for handling known stolen funds, rather than placing that responsibility solely on THORChain.
