The longer I looked into Bitcoin, the more I started questioning what actually makes it valuable. Everyone talks about scarcity and digital gold, but the part that kept nagging at me was the network itself. Years of uptime, years of decentralization, years of accumulated trust that no newer chain can just copy overnight. That's not something you can fork.
That's what pulled me toward Babylon. The idea isn't just letting people stake BTC for yield. It's letting Bitcoin's security actually extend outward, so newer proof of stake networks can borrow that trust instead of bootstrapping their own from scratch, without wrapping BTC into some synthetic version of itself first. That single design choice changes a lot about how trust actually flows in this space.
The harder question is whether this scales the way it needs to. Strong architecture alone doesn't guarantee adoption. Developers need a real reason to build on top of it, and users need to actually trust the mechanism enough to lock BTC into it in the first place.
So here's what I keep coming back to. Maybe the real long term question about Bitcoin isn't "how high does the price go." Maybe it's "how much infrastructure can Bitcoin's security actually support." If that thesis holds, the projects built around securing other networks with Bitcoin could end up mattering just as much as Bitcoin itself.

What's Bitcoin's next chapter?

Back on January 7, Babylon confirmed backing from a16z Crypto, with fifteen million dollars going toward development and scaling of Trustless Bitcoin Vaults. What stands out here isn't just the check size, it's who's writing it. a16z has been selective about which Bitcoin infrastructure bets it makes, and putting capital behind TBV signals real conviction that native BTC collateral is going to be a defining category in this cycle, not a passing trend.
David Tse framed the raise as fuel for turning Babylon's vault architecture from a working concept into production grade infrastructure that can support serious institutional volume.
