BTC just round-tripped $75.6K to $81K in a matter of hours. Initial reaction to the US midterm results was fear — Democrats taking both chambers of Congress had traders pricing in heavier regulatory pressure on digital assets, and BTC dumped to $75.6K on the knee-jerk.

That didn't last. Post-election clarity flipped the script fast: institutional call buying and short covering took over, and $380M of short positions got liquidated in a single hour as BTC ripped back toward $81K. Combined 24h liquidations across longs and shorts landed near $910M.

Spot ETF flows told the same story. A three-session, $1.16B outflow streak snapped with $74.6M of net inflows coming back in. The dip was fear-driven positioning, not fresh selling — and the shorts who leaned into the headline paid for it within the hour.

Still holding a short into this kind of reversal, or is this exactly the setup you wait to fade?
