XRP LEDGER ACTIVATES FIXCLEANUP3_4_0 AMENDMENT RESOLVING TOKEN MINTING VULNERABILITY
The XRP Ledger officially enabled protocol amendment fixCleanup3_4_0 at 10:52 PM (UTC+8) on November 4, addressing a technical vulnerability in its asset issuance permissioning architecture. The vulnerability previously carried the risk of allowing accounts authorized solely to execute token clawbacks on behalf of issuers to mint unauthorized tokens under certain edge-case conditions.
The issue specifically impacted the clawback-enabled authorization framework for assets issued on the XRP Ledger, such as third-party stablecoins, while leaving the native XRP digital asset completely unaffected. Prior to the successful on-chain activation, no security breaches or unauthorized exploits were publicly identified on the distributed ledger.
In addition to resolving the minting vulnerability, the fixCleanup3_4_0 release incorporates structural ledger accounting adjustments designed to support the upcoming native lending protocol and Single Asset Vault mechanisms. The update also delivers targeted enhancements to automated market maker (AMM) token recovery functions, credentialed transactions, and cryptographic transaction-signing pipelines.
The amendment was enacted after sustaining the required validator consensus threshold across two consecutive weeks. An initial activation attempt in October had previously stalled due to intermittent validator voting patterns before the network ultimately achieved sustained consensus to complete the network upgrade.
