Tether is expanding its gold position at a rapid pace. Its physical gold reserves backing XAU₮ have climbed from 16.2 tonnes at the end of 2025 to approximately 25.7 tonnes by September 30.
That’s an addition of more than 9 tonnes of gold, bringing the total backing to a record 827,418 ounces.
Each XAU₮ token represents ownership of one fine troy ounce of physical gold held in Swiss vaults.
