NEAR PROTOCOL GOVERNANCE APPROVES REDUCTION OF MAXIMUM ANNUAL ISSUANCE TO 1.6% OVER 24 MONTHS
The House of Stake governance body within NEAR Protocol has voted to reduce the network's maximum annual token issuance rate from 2.5% down to 1.6%, with the transition phased incrementally across a 24-month horizon.
Under the approved governance framework, following review and sign-off by the House of Stake Security Committee, the implementation will observe a technical grace period of approximately 90 days. Network validators will subsequently execute the parameter adjustments via a coordinated protocol upgrade. The programmatic reduction in nominal issuance will apply dynamically across transaction epochs, systematically stepping down until stabilizing at the target 1.6% ceiling by the 24th month.
The network governance process will introduce quarterly reporting mechanisms to systematically monitor realized token issuance against programmatic milestones. This planned reduction in circulating emissions is designed to refine the underlying network tokenomics, curb structural block-reward secondary distribution pressure, and fortify long-term economic sustainability across the ecosystem.
